Chemo 5 Postponed for a Bit....

Hi, Everybody!

My great pal Sue McCarty drive me down to Penn yesterday...Amy Chapman met us there....thank you girls so much for your support! Amy brought fruit, coffee, & cheese!

At the Hospital of Univ. of Penn - as I usually do - I met with the nurses to get my white blood count levels tested, and my vitals,  just to make sure it was ok for me to get the chemo - then got "in line" for my chemo. They were really backlogged because of last week's snow storm. So I waited with Sue & Amy for two and a half hours! Then I was told (kindly) that I would have to go home and come back on Wednesday. The reason being that this new chemo treatment takes 4 hours (!!!!) (not 1 1/2 like the last treatments) so if had started at 3:30 I wouldn't have been finished in time for their 7 p.m. closing....uggh....oh well, I believe everything happens for a reason...

One funny thing was, I had my Santa hat on when they told me I had to come back, and I wasn't very "Christmasy" as I bitched and moaned to the schedulers about not wanting to come in at 9:00 a.m on Wednesday and sit in three hours of rush hour traffic just to get there  by 9:00 a.m.- so they switched me to later on the morning...HO HO HO! I can be the squeaky wheel any time of the year, even at Christmastime!

So unfortunately I will be going back to Penn tomorrow, Wednesday, December18th.

The effects from this treatment, called Taxol, are only supposed to last for two days, but it's supposed to make me super achy (like I have the flu) and tired, but at least it's only for two days not 4or 5 like the last treatment. The effects will kick in about four days after I receive my treatment.

Okay that's all for now! I will post some more photos asap. Love, Annie
