Oncologist Visit...

Well Hello, Everyone! Thanks for checking in! My visit to see Dr. Domcheck at U of Penn Hospital went well.....Team Annie met me there and we had lunch first...(of course!) But first I have to show you a photo my friend Paige sent to me! She dresses up her little 'horsies' and she made me smile this a.m. when she sent this to me!

Dr. Munchkin

Okay onto photos from yesterday.....

TEAM ANNIE (Gretchen, me, Trudy)

                                                     LUNCH TIME

                                            TWO THUMBS UP FOR SISTERS!

CUDDLES FROM GRET - (even after she
listened to me bitch at her for an hour - while en route
to Penn - for driving too slow
!)
(Gret is such a forgiving sister!)

                                                      SISTERLY SUPPORT...
(even after I tortured Trudy relentlessly in high school
in all kinds of very evil and horrendous ways...)

(Trudy is such a forgiving sister!)

DYNAMO DR. DOMCHECK!
She is one Smart Lady!

In a nutshell, my cancer is type "Triple Negative" and won't respond to anti-cancer drugs some people take for about 5 years after their chemo (like Tamoxefin) so chemo is our only tool in the toolbox. Radiation to come later...

I will begin chemo in about two weeks, as soon as I can. It is to kill any stray unseen cells from THIS cancer not any future cancers that may arise in me...

Chip and I first need to go next week for a session on the effects of chemo so we know what to expect and an ecto cardiogram ( I know that is not spelled right!)

As I will lose my hair on the 17th day after starting chemo, I plan to have a "Follicle Farewell" party where I will shave my head and we will all eat foods that begin with F! You are ALL INVITED! Dr. Domcheck said "This is not a fun day" so I need to make it FUN! (You know I do!)

Gotta run & get ready for school....more deets later but that was the gist....

THANK YOU Trudy & Gret for going with me, and especially Gret for driving me to and from the hospital!

Love, Annie

  3. Annie ~ your humor is amazing and inspiring especially considering the news you received from the doc on Monday. You are loved with an everlasting love. And additional heaps of love from the six sisters :-)
I will continue to stand with you in prayer and supplication before our Lord knowing that he is able to heal.
Please keep us updated on these posts as you are able. With lots of love to you, Chip and Eli.
