Wiggin' Out I

Hi!

It was a long but productive day at H.U. P. First Chip & I went to the Heart & Vascular Unit and sat in the waiting room while a patient hacked away into the air, really grossing me out. (I guess he didn't learn, in kindergraten, to cough into his elbow!)

We then met with this very jovial heart/vasclar technician named Tony (pictured) who measured how strong my heart was. We yakked away with him as he did my Echo Cardiogram. My heart beating on the ultrasound reminded me of a little duckling drinking water!

After that Team Annie went for a quick lunch and had soup & salad & coffee and talked about how great Tony was!
Then we met w/a pretty & super smart Fellow named Chan. She was wonderful! We talked about both fishing and genetics! A very well-rounded conversation I would say! She is doing studies on genetics at Penn, under Dr. Domcheck's guidance, specifiaclly the BRCA gene and wants me to be included, which I am happy to be.

Then we met with an excellent Nurse Practitioner Robin who taught us all about what it's like going through chemotherapy. There was a lot of information to digest, so I was very glad Trudy & Chip were there.

After that we met briefly with the surgeon, Dr. Tchou, for a follow-up visit & she removed my stitches. We talked about my next operation in the spring, a double mastectomey which I have decided I am going to get after much careful thought, study & consideration.
(This is me getting my stictches out.)

After that I got some blood drawn for chemo and for the studies.

I got pretty freaked out learning about the ins and outs of chemo from the nurse.

So freaked out that the only thing to do was to try on some wigs at the wig boutique at the hospital.
THESE WERE NOT SERIOUS CHOICES OF WIGS!
WE WERE JUST HAVING FUN!

Red is the new brunette!

No caption would suffice for these two photos.
Chemo begins tomorrow. My bff Sue will take me. Ready or not here we come cancer!
